ZeissIkon Super Ikonta

>Lynn, one trick to get rid off lens fungus is to put the lens into the stove together with some silica gel packs. > Ehm, it is not the usual 350F for twenty minutes. Just about the WARM setting on your oven and leave it in for a couple of hours. It helps when the fungus is not that big already.

Microwave won't work!

Thanks for the idea, Claus, but I am not keeping this camera. It is worse than I first described. I found the door doesn't align right with the back of the camera and it appears that inside of the bottom was filed down, the hinges aren't in perfect alignment, and the bottom of the camera comes together unevenly. The shutter speeds won't go to 400 either.

Like you, Austin, I am having a hard time getting the seller to make a deal on it's return and refund. He claims it was advertised as a user and that is what I got. That is not so. This is turning into a real mess. He wants the camera back to examine, I want a refund. I don't have anything to prove he'll give me my money once he has the camera back.

How does one handle this? I asked him if he wants to get a mediator. Any suggestions? This might be the end of my Ebay-ing. -Lynn

Lynn:

I am sorry to have read about your ordeal. Perhaps if posting the location of the seller on the forum, someone from forum living nearby could act on your behalf.

For what it is worth; a lot of good information about Zeiss Ikons was provided and I believe a lot of people have learned something positive from your experience.

Good Luck

Gilbert

Thanks, Gilbert. I don't mean to fill up the forum with useless chatter, so I do hope there was something useful in this thread. The seller is located in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania. I'm open to suggestions and ideas so this can be handled fairly. If this is too far off topic - anyone can contact me by email at Lynn@turnkeydesign.net. Thanks, -Lynn

Lynn,

How did you pay for the camera? I paid by MO, so I have no recourse, as in filing a credit card dispute... If you paid via PayPal or any other source that you used a credit care, simply send the camera back, getting proof of sending it back, like sending it UPS, or USPS with delivery confirmation...then file a credit card dispute. All they want is proof you sent it back. Do NOT file a PayPal dispute, as they simply ignore it...file with your credit card company, and then deal with the silly wrath of PayPal fussing about your chargeback.

Regards,

Austin

Sadly, I used a Post Office Money Order. I rarely ever do that, but of course this time I did and it came back to bite me. By the way, the guy is getting unreasonable about it. He claims he only has to fix or replace it at his discretion. I told him that doesn't work when he sent me such a defective piece of trash. He claims I'm only upset that it isn't pretty. I could live with an ugly camera IF it actually functioned. But I don't call a non functional aperture, a partially functional shutter speed dial and an incredibly sticky focus ring a user! (along with all it's other problems) I will have to get Ebay to step in, or I will have to get a lawyer, or contact the consumer protection agency here in Wisconsin. Wisconsin looks poorly upon their citizens suffering fraud. If he wants to play games, I'll show him how the law views that. Thanks for the help. And by the way, my Contaflex completely seized up this weekend and is once again broken. Quite a weekend. -Lynn

To follow up: The seller and I have negotiated a deal. I return the camera in the condition he sent it and he will return my money completely.

Thank you all for putting up with my many questions.

Best, -Lynn

> Lynn and Austin,

First, Lynn, sorry you are having problems. I use Ebay a lot and it hurts when you meet a bad seller. I've been following your posts with interest and you have certainly not been troubling me! Austin you sound very experienced in this area as well as the Contax stuff in general. I wonder if you'd be kind enough to include me in your advice and let me know too what happens. Best wishes Ali
