Thank you very much RBIV. In this case I could have used center-weighted metering but my shooting preference is spot focusing and spot metering especially for macro. Here I tried to judge an average lit spot in the image that I wanted to stand out more, like a tree trunk, or foliage, or the flames. Occasionally, of course, I needed to repeat the shot for a better metering. I only shoot JPG and use the basic post processing program PhotoFiltre for minor adjustment of +- gamma correction, sharpness or saturation. Don't like to spend more than 30 seconds per imageAnother great series. Complex lighting, and speaking of... I notice you used spot metering. If may ask, where in the frame did you meter? One spot and go with it, or did you measure around several places and then choose an average? Bracket? And are these from RAW files, or did you shoot .JPG?
Asking because I'm impressed with the outcome. Really good.
Thank you Dean. With the breeze created by the fire itself the sun rays used to come and go. just had to wait for the right moment.Very artistic using the sun's rays Ben.
Thank you Dino. I very much appreciate your comments and I am glad you like these images .These are superb and unusual scenes captured or at least for me. I have not seen scenes like this captured this way.
