COLOR MODE VS WHITE BALANCE USING D100

WE ARE TAKING PICTURES OF SPORTS TEAMS USING SRGB MODE AND THE RED SHIRTS LOOK REALLY ORANGE. IS THIS A BASIC FAULT OF THE CAMERA OR OPERATOR ERROR?

RE: D100 Color Mode Vs White Balance...

Hi Christine - I've just got a D100, so am not that familiar with it yet - however, have you checked your Color Hue Adjustment - (in Shooting Menu "Hue Adjustment") - As If the hue setting is raised above 0 {the default setting}, then a Yellow cast would be created - showing colours that would be Red at 0 setting appear Orange.
I hope this helps,

Good Luck!,

Mark.

A few suggestions:
1) Use a gray card to create a custom white balance.
2) If you don't want to do that, try using the "cloudy" white balance when shooting with strobes. I've found that gives the most accurate color balance.
3) For the ultimate color control, capture images in RAW format and process with a software like the Adobe RAW/JPEG 2000 plug-in for Photoshop. It's only $99, and will be the best money you ever spent on a digital item. It's very easy to use and the quality difference in your images will be night and day.

Iv'e Just Purchased a D100. I am constantly getting a small dot on the upper right hand of my images.Has anyone else suffered with the same problem. If so how do you fix it?

Graham,

It sounds like you have a speck of dust on your sensor. You can clean it off yourself, but do it carefully. First, try blowing it out with something like dust-off. Set your shutter speed to 30 seconds (lens off), trip the shutter and gently blow the spec off the sensor. Do not put the nozzle close to the sensor. Use a gentle blast of air. If that doesn't do the trick, try using Sensor Swabs with Eclipse Optic Cleaner, available here: http://www.photographicsolutions.com/swabproduct.htm

This is pretty much a constant problem with digital cameras that have interchangeable lenses. To minimize it, keep your camera clean and out of dusty environments. It also helps to not change lenses while the camera is turned on. While on, there is a positive charge on the sensor that will attract dust particles.

I have had a D100 for a short period of time and have noticed that, although the pictures are turning out great, that often times I have flashing portions of my LCD. Is this highlights that have been blown out? If so, is it damaging to the LCD or should I just shoot pictures and not worry about it? Thanks for any help!

Dont worry. Shooting digital is very much like shooting Kodachrome film. A glance at your histogram screen after a test shot will confirm whether you have blown out your highlights. The histogram is the best lightmeter ever invented, and is your best friend. If the highlights are blown in the test shot, drop your exposure until they are not.

The LCD can not be damaged even if the image is pure white. The camera feeds it only information that it can easily handle, otherwise you would not dare use the menus - since the writing is pure white.

Close to you, the warmth I

Around you, to hold fast to you! I was obsessed with how, in your embrace. No one in a night, one more than the street, you put my mind to try the fragrance on your body quietly into my nostrils, into my Heart, but you also know nothing about when I have lost! Your lips are so soft, so I can not help but greedy, your body is so small Sophie ah, I did not dare to relax you, I am afraid, afraid of opening up after you will be blown away, so I forced in with you that I treasure! I have been intoxicated, had been secretly sucking your beauty, this is how I envy ah, let me also become part of your body now, as I always have you, will never be lonely! In this small world, you are my all, embrace you and I will have the entire world. "Cold?" Your words are so gentle, Do not you know, you are my sun, with you, I will be cold?
