85mm Which version

Hello;

I am lusting after an 85mm Nikkor lens. I am interested its all round capability and limitations. Which version do I get when considering cost-effectiveness? THe 1.4, 1.8, or the 2.0.

Thanks,

Mark

There are manual and autofocus versions of the f1.4 and the f1.8 lenses. The manual versions are available on the used market. I am not sure if the f2 has an autofocus model.

If you use filters, take into consideration that the f1.4 uses 72mm filters while the f1.8 and f2.0 use 52mm filters.

Also consider the 85mm f2.8 PC Micro Nikkor.

I own and use the f1.8 manual focus lens.
