The venelles of Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer are narrow streets that link the rue du Maréchal Foch (one of the town's main thoroughfares) to the seafront promenade. The walls that surround them once lined the fishermen's gardens. The fishermen used them to spread their fishing nets from one wall to the other, so that the wind could dry them more efficiently.
