Canon Offcamera shoe cord 2 extra length

Is it possible to extend the length of the
Canon Off-camera shoe cord 2 ??
To my knowledge this is the only cord that allows second curtain synch of a remote flash.
Extending this cord could allow for more creative options. Not sure why the longer canon cords eliminate second curtain feature ???

It is possible, if you're the type who's good with a soldering iron and a multi-meter. There've been some threads on www.photo.net about exactly how one goes about performing surgery on their Off-camera Shoe Cord 2, but it's clearly far from simple. Some have suggested connecting two OCSC2 together to extend the length, but I don't know how well that works.
