The Tolbiac site of the French National Library houses two four-meter-diameter globes, designed by Venetian cosmographer Vincenzo Coronelli and presented to Louis XIV by César Cardinal d'Estrées. The globe in the foreground of the first photo is a representation of the Earth.
It is peppered with gruesome details of life in faraway lands, as can be seen in the center of the second photo.
Coronelli readily admits that he does not know everything... (third photo).
