9xi Flashcontrol with Minolta 5400HS Flash

Can I select the Aperture with the 5400HS flash in M only !?
Is the flash control reliable in M ?

Why cant I use the Programm shift control with this flash.

In P mode 9xi can not shift program when 5400HS/5400 is on. 9xi can always detect 5400 status of on/off correctly. But it can not do so correctly if 5400HS is attached unless 5400HS is switched on before camera being switched on.

I have tried 5400HS on 800si only, and I am very happy with the result.
